Meet Sarah

About Me

Raised in Michigan with an early fascination for the mind, I pursued psychology at DePaul University before beginning a traditional medical track. The limits of modern medicine, along with periods of imbalance in my own life, sparked a search for something more complete, one that honored both body and mind. I struggled with digestive issues, which led to even more diverse struggles such as excessive fatigue and insomnia. I went from specialist to specialist, all of whom weren’t even able to tell me what was going on.

My search eventually brought me to Maharishi International University’s accredited AyurVeda & Integrative Medicine program, where three years of immersive study revealed a system of care that harmonizes seamlessly with modern medicine.

I came to this work not through theory alone, but through lived experience. My practice exists to offer that same depth of care to others: attentively with an unwavering respect for everyone’s unique path. Every consultation, every program, is an intentional process designed to bring clarity, ease, and vitality.

The name of my practice, Veda Balance, reflects its essence: knowledge and a balanced approach.

AyurVedic Consultant, Sarah Gilkey, M.S.

A Letter to My Clients

When I first encountered AyurVeda, I was searching for answers that conventional approaches could not provide. Personal imbalances led me to seek a deeper understanding of health, a path that honors both body and mind, and the unique subtleties of each individual. That journey introduced me to AyurVedic wisdom, offering me solutions, as well as a way to restore harmony and vitality at every level.

Today, I bring that same depth of care to those I consult with. Each consultation and program is an intentional process that is designed to uncover the root causes of your challenges, cultivate balance, and support sustainable transformation. My role is to listen deeply, guide with precision, and help you reconnect with your body’s innate intelligence and resilience through AyurVeda & Integrative Medicine.

In this practice, you will find neither one-size-fits-all solutions nor rushed advice. Instead, you will experience a partnership that honors your unique story, integrating timeless wisdom with modern understanding. Together, we craft a wellness journey that aligns with your true nature, enhances your vitality, and supports you in living fully: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The choice to prioritize your health is an investment in yourself and your legacy. Let us explore what is possible when clarity, care, and intention come together in service of your highest well-being.

Professional Foundation

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from DePaul University, which provides a strong foundation in the mind-body connection. I deepened my expertise with a Master of Science in Maharishi AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine from Maharishi International University, the only accredited program of its kind in the United States.

For over a decade, I have guided clients with holistic, personalized support that now blends evidence-based AyurVedic wisdom and holistic Western approaches to cultivate clarity, vitality, and lasting well-being.

I focus on areas including AyurVedic nutrition and lifestyle, mind-body integration for resilience and balance, and guidance through pivotal life stages: from cycle and fertility support to pregnancy and beyond.

I believe that AyurVeda is not about restriction, but rather about refinement.

In our work together, we’ll create a plan that feels natural, supportive, and seamlessly integrates into your life. Every recommendation is tailored to your constitution, environment, and goals.

For my clients, wellness is not a trend. It is a legacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AyurVeda and how do you pronounce it?

AyurVeda (pronounced eye-yer-vay-duh) is the world’s oldest system of natural health and wellness, originating in India 5,000+ years ago. The word itself means “knowledge of life.” At its heart, AyurVeda recognizes that each person is unique and therefore requires a unique path to balance and well-being. Rather than simply treating symptoms, AyurVeda addresses the whole person: body, mind, and spirit to restore alignment at every level.

Does AyurVeda conflict with my religious or spiritual beliefs?

Not at all. AyurVeda is not a religion, it is a timeless system of health and well-being that anyone can benefit from, regardless of faith or background. Many clients find that it enhances their existing beliefs by helping them feel more centered, grounded, and aligned in their daily lives. Whatever your background or beliefs, AyurVeda meets you exactly where you are.

What can I expect from working with you? What can you give me that A.I. can’t?

Every client experience is personalized with care, discretion, and attention to detail. Our consultations uncover the root causes of imbalance, and from there you’ll receive tailored guidance designed to restore balance, vitality, and clarity. The process is both restorative and deeply supportive, with space for you to feel truly seen and understood.

A.I. is wonderful for some things: generate to-do lists, write (mediocre) copies, get answers to basic questions. It might seem like it would be great with AyurVeda & Integrative Medicine, providing guidance on diet and digestion, being a health and wellness coach. However, A.I. falls short in many areas you might not be aware of, such as: remembering past conversations, connecting the dots for solutions, keeping in mind what you truly want, and genuine human connection with empathy. It could take hours of using A.I. for you to receive a response along the lines that you are looking for, for it to be completely incorrect. A.I. won’t ask you critical questions that could have major implications on your health and well-being. For the safest and most comprehensive support possible, it is best to consult a human who has expertise in this area.

Is AyurVeda licensed in the United States?

At present, there is no national licensing board for AyurVeda in the United States. AyurVedic practice is recognized as a holistic health system, but not regulated in the same way as conventional medicine. My training is extensive and rooted in the only accredited programs available in the U.S., and I uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in my practice. AyurVeda is intended as a complementary approach to your overall wellness journey, not a substitute for licensed medical care.

Is AyurVeda right for me?

If you are seeking more than a quick fix, want lasting vitality, clarity, and balance, then yes, AyurVeda is for you. Whether you’re navigating health challenges, feeling out of alignment, or simply curious about a natural path forward, this work is designed to meet you exactly where you are.

How soon will I notice results?

Each client’s journey is unique. Some notice improvements in energy, digestion, or sleep within days, while others find shifts occur more gradually. The focus is on creating lasting transformation, not just temporary relief, so that your results can be deepened and more sustainable over time.

Can you guarantee an outcome for me?

Nothing in life can ever be guaranteed and AyurVeda is no exception. What I can promise is a highly personalized, attentive process rooted in timeless wisdom and modern understanding. Many clients experience profound, lasting transformations, but the journey depends on your unique constitution, lifestyle, and commitment.

Can I stop seeing my western medical professional if I start consultations?

No. AyurVeda is a powerful and complementary system of wellness, but it is not a replacement for Western medicine. I always encourage clients to continue their care with trusted medical professionals, and AyurVeda can beautifully enhance that process. If you do not feel aligned with your current provider, it may be worthwhile to explore one who better supports your values and goals.
