Meet Sarah Gilkey, M.S.
Sarah is from Michigan and had minimal exposure to alternative medicine growing up, but was involved and interested in health and wellness from a young age. She completed her undergraduate education at DePaul University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology. After having graduated, she began courses that could lead to medical school. While having found all courses interesting, the environment felt overly competitive with a high level of burn out.
Sarah discovered Maharishi International University (MIU) through a friend who helped create the Maharishi AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine Program. After having spent three years of comprehensive training at the only accredited school for AyurVeda in the United States, she witnessed wonderful changes and benefits for clients through their integration of this knowledge alongside western modern medicine. Sarah holds a strong belief that Maharishi AyurVeda, certain other alternative modalities, and western medicine work well, hand-in-hand.
Sarah is a life-long student and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others. She is excited to be on the health and wellness journey beside you and is looking forward to the first meeting.

FAQ
What is AyurVeda? And how do you pronounce it?
AyurVeda (“Eye-YUR-vaid-Duh”) is a thousands year old approach to health and wellness, having been the traditional medicinal system of India. It is a holistic, unique, individual, prevention-oriented, and natural approach to health.
I’m religious, does this conflict with my beliefs?
Not at all! This is a system of health and wellness, your affiliation with your religion does not conflict at all.
Can I schedule a consultation without having paid first?
Payment in full is expected at the time of booking your consultation.
Is this covered by insurance?
AyurVeda is complementary to modern Western medicine and therefore, unfortunately, is not currently covered by insurance.
How quickly can I expect a response to an email or having filled out a contact form?
While we would love to be able to answer all emails and forms immediately, we do ask that you allow for at least 72 hours from the time that the message was sent – particularly over any weekends or holidays. There are also times when there are vacations that occur, at which time messages could take longer than 72 hours to be responded to.
I don’t feel comfortable having a video call, is it okay if I have my camera off/do a voice call instead?
Absolutely! The options are to either have a video or a voice call for the consultation.
Is Sarah licensed in AyurVeda?
AyurVeda is not a licensed profession within the United States at this time. With that being said, Sarah attended Maharishi International University’s Master of Science AyurVeda and Integrative Medicine program. This program is the only accredited school for AyurVeda in the country at this time.
I would like a consultation, but cannot make any of the times that are listed. Are there consultations that are held later or during a weekend?
Feel free to message Sarah through the contact form on the “Contact” page, or email sa***@*********ce.net to see if an arrangement can be made. Please be aware that there could be an additional charge made for opening a time that is outside of the listed consultation times.
How do I book a consultation?
Please go to the “Services” page of this website, scroll to the area where it says “Book a Consultation,” and choose the desired consultation type.
I booked a consultation but I need to reschedule, how do I do that?
It is asked that you please reschedule your appointment with more than 72 hours out from your booked consultation. If you are in need of rescheduling after that point, please contact Sarah at sa***@*********ce.com as soon as possible in order to notify her of your inability to attend that session and need to reschedule. Please note that if you are in need of rescheduling any more than twice for a session, it will be up to the discretion of Veda Balance to determine if you are able to have a consultation.
I got sick the day of my consultation and can’t make it, what do I do?
Please contact Sarah through sa***@*********ce.net as soon as you are aware that you are unable to make the consultation. At that point, Sarah will provide you with the ability to reschedule your consultation for a later date.
Is there anything that I need to do in order to prepare for my consultation?
Not necessarily, no! Please wear comfortable clothing, sit in a comfortable spot for you, and ensure you are in a quiet area where you are able to be alone.
What payment methods are accepted?
Veda Balance completes its financial transactions through the support of Stripe, which allows for the acceptance of most major credit cards. No cash, check, or wire transfers are accepted at this time.
How can I best contact Sarah while not being an active client?
Please feel free to reach out to Sarah via the form on the “Contact” page or via email at sa***@*********ce.net. All clients have access to contact Sarah via other additional methods.
Can you guarantee an outcome for me?
Unfortunately nothing in life is a guarantee. AyurVeda is an incredible and comprehensive approach to health and wellness, but there are no guarantees for any outcome due to a multitude of factors.
Can I stop seeing my western medical professional if I start consultations?
Please continue seeing your western medical professional. While it is a wonderful complimentary approach, this is not an alternative or a replacement for western modern medicine. If you do not particularly like your current western medical professional, please consider searching for another.
How do I know that my information is safe?
There have been a number of precautions taken in the creation of this site to ensure security, as well as your anonymity while visiting. Acuity Scheduling has been selected with HIPAA standards to ensure your information is secure. The client portal was selected in mind for security and is also in alignment with HIPAA standards.

No, Veda Balance does not have social media. This is so the AyurVedic Consultant, Sarah, can focus and provide her full attention to clients instead of coming up with posts, videos, editing, and so forth.
Is there a minimum age that a client has to be in order to sign up for a Consultation?
Yes, the minimum age is 18 years old. Otherwise, a parent/guardian would have to sign for the minor and also verbally and visually (over camera) acknowledge at they did sign the agreement and are aware of the consultation.
